Internet Message Access Protocol or IMAP is a technical process which is widely used to access emails on a remote email server.

Rather than downloading emails onto your PC, laptop, mobile or tablet, the IMAP protocol allows you to keep your emails on a remote email server. This allows users to access, read and reply to emails on more than one device, which requires an email account to be synchronised across multiple devices.

This requires an increasing amount of email storage as the number of emails within an email account increases but can make it quicker to access emails with anytime or anywhere access.
