Microsoft recently announced that they are making changes to their pricing structure for the Microsoft 365 Business apps and software they have been providing since they first launched Office 365 in October of 2010.
The updated pricing structure will take into account the increased value, apps and improvements which have been added to and delivered within Microsoft 365 within their three key areas of:
Communications and collaboration
Microsoft Teams is at the forefront of the communications solution within Microsoft 365 providing chat, meeting, call, collaboration and automation services for business users. Initially being released in 2017, over 300 capabilities were released in 2020 alone which included live reactions, breakout rooms, live captions, together mode and background effects. This also includes the ability to enable real time collaboration across other apps such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint alongside the deep integration of third-party apps such as Salesforce, Adobe and SAP.
Security and compliance
With the increase of volume, scale and sophistication of online or cyber-attacks, security and compliance has become a priority for most companies. Microsoft 365 has continued to be developed in order for companies to protect themselves against any possible attacks with various attack surface reduction capabilities in order for businesses and large organisations to protect themselves against any threats or ransomware attacks.
Capabilities such as Data Loss Prevention or DLP for email and data, compliances features to respond to increasing requirements and tools such as Endpoint manager to help admins manage IT infrastructure have improved the overall security of Microsoft 365.
AI and automation
Various AI capabilities and innovations have been developed across the various productivity and collaboration apps within Microsoft 365. This allows users to automatically create maps, charts and tables as well as provide real time captions, translations and transcriptions to improve productivity and collaboration for users.
Pricing Structure
The new pricing structure will come into effect in March of 2022 and will include changes to the following products:
- Microsoft 365 Business Basic
